Position Summary:
Inventory Planning Manager supports the business by leveraging industry best practices and supplier capabilities to enhance service rates: supports departmental inventory optimization initiatives, product forecasting, replenishment strategy, merchandise planning, in stock, on time, fill rate, & minimum order requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply, identify risk from excess inventory.
• Adjust inventory policies as necessary, to keep out of stock rates to a minimum
• Partner with Category Management team to determine correct quantities for buy-ins and maintain accountability for stock turns by Brand
• Identify trends at the SKU level through Ad-hoc analysis, point-of-sale data and reports
• Conduct and provide analysis of key performance indicators (KPI) among product lines and vendors
• Manage purchasing process for new and active items using rate of sale, seasonality and lead time, optimizing control of inventory expenditures
• Monitor, identify and coordinate other internal and external inventory locations to improve supply efficiency and order fill rate
• Foster consensus and collaboration including Product, Marketing and Planning teams
• Responsible for contributing to profit and growth through planning, purchasing and effective inventory levels
• Provide analysis with key performance indicators, information for decision making and alternative, actionable recommendations for inventory management by utilizing knowledge of the various software systems, database tools, and understanding of the business needs, determine surplus and vendor management strategies.
• Participate in or lead CFT teams to implement creative solutions, using project management skills, ensure process and system changes occur
• Create and maintain SKU level demand plans by vendor/brand/SKU
• Provide key analysis and direction of forecasts to maximize decision making ability
• Maintain vendor lead time score card and make changes where applicable
• Work closely with replenishment specialist to ensure accuracy of buying, Implement training where needed
• Create annual plans alongside category management team and present to senior leadership
• Maintain a forecast at a category or brand level, and understand key drivers and create actionable strategies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to roll things up to a high level, but also be extremely granular in scope
• System savvy and nimble
• Ability to forecast, analyze, and prepare statistical data and metrics
• Ability to manage/mine data from multiple sources to create necessary reports and databases
• Strong Analytical and mathematical skills.
• Ability to extract conclusions from available data into actionable information
• Must demonstrate expert PC skills, especially MS excel
• Ability to create complex spreadsheets using advance formulas
• Prior experience in SAP is preferred
• Prior experience with planning software is preferred

Education or Experience
• Bachelor's degree in business or finance
• Minimum of 5 years in Demand Planning, or other planning role
• Experience with extremely large sku counts
• Create and revise all components of a rolling merchandise forecast at a daily / monthly / quarterly level including sales, margin, receipts, inventory, and turn
• Make both collaborative and independent day-to-day decisions which affect gross margin dollars
• Partner with the Category Management team to influence promotional plans
• Analyze and anticipate selling patterns to influence replenishment strategy
• Conduct detailed pre- and post-promotional analysis, and present insights and recommendation to CM team and leadership
• Perform analysis to identify areas of risk and opportunity and help create action plans
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply, identify risk from excess inventory.
• Partner with Category Management team to determine correct quantities for buy-ins and maintain accountability for stock turns by Brand
• Create annual plans alongside category management team and present to senior leadership
• Maintain high levels of promotional product availability during promotional periods while minimizing aging and discontinued inventory levels
• Drill into inventory levels and quality of inventory to recommend optimum use of receipt dollars.
